Supplement and nutraceutical merchant accounts
Card acceptance for supplement brands, from one-time bottles to subscription programs.
Banks decline supplements for two reasons: claims and rebills. Get both right and the category underwrites cleanly.
Why banks decline supplements and nutraceuticals
- Marketing claims are what regulators act on, and a bank that finds one on your site assumes there are more.
- Free-trial and continuity models produce chargebacks when the terms were not clear at checkout.
- Ingredient rules change, and some ingredients are restricted in some markets.
- Refund disputes on consumables are hard to win without a clear policy.
What we need from you
Underwriting reads the site before it reads the application. Have these ready and a complete application goes live in 24 hours.
- Product copy reviewed for claims; ingredients, amounts and directions for use, not outcomes
- Subscription terms shown at checkout, with the rebill amount and date, and a cancellation path that works
- Labels and supplement facts for each product
- A refund policy that says what happens to opened products
- A billing descriptor that matches your brand
- Formation documents and an EIN or your country's equivalent
- Owner identification (a passport is fine; no SSN needed for non-US owners)
- A voided check or bank letter for the settlement account
- Processing and chargeback history from your current processor, if you have one
- Published refund, shipping and privacy policies, and terms that match how you actually bill
What you get
- Continuity billing that follows the network rules for trials and rebills, with reminders and retries built in.
- A vault under your name, so your subscriber base is yours, not the processor's.
- Routing across more than one merchant account where volume justifies it.
- Settlement in two business days.
What we cannot support
Saying it here saves you an application.
- Undisclosed continuity or trial-to-rebill flows without clear terms at checkout
- Sites with disease or outcome claims
- Ingredients that are restricted in the market you sell into
- Products the card networks prohibit
Questions supplements and nutraceuticals merchants ask
Are free trials allowed?
Yes, when the rebill amount and date are shown before the customer pays, a reminder goes out before the first rebill, and cancellation is as easy as signing up.
What counts as a claim?
Anything that says what the product does for a person. Ingredients and amounts are fine. Outcomes are not.
Will there be a reserve?
It depends on your history and your model. Continuity models with no history usually carry one at the start; it is stated in the offer.
Can I move my existing subscribers over?
Yes. Tokens are imported into your vault and rebills continue from the next scheduled date.
